Never let the ice breaks you – anonymous
After several years of Ice Skating hiatus, I have finally decided that now is the time to embrace again one of my favorite sport of all times (with the help and persuasion of Miel, she is the one responsible for it, for she is the one who really loves to skate again). I remember, way back when I was a kid, as in very very young, I saw teenagers breezing their way into the air, using their rollerskates and rollerblades.
It seems to me as if they are dancing freely with the air, arms wide, hugging the freshness and coolness of the air, the atmosphere and the art of flying (even without lifting their selves up). And I said to my mother, that I wanted to learn that too. So there she is, my usual loyal stage mother, had me learned how to skate with an instructor in Luneta Park (before, they used to maintain an oval skating rink there in front of National Museum).
My first attempt was exciting, I fell flat on my face when I started to do my own thing, and skated in a faster mode without perfecting my balance yet (silly me, always been aggressive to learn). See, another moral lesson when I was still a kid, never estimate the power of the learning process, for there is a reason that it is a process and not just another balloon which floats up in air when released from its string.
So, i perfected the art of balancing in my roller blades. And whenever I would skate, it feels as if I found my escape from everything. It felt so good to be able to hug the air on my own now, controlling my feet where it would take me (but not far, coz I usually just go here in the corners, hehe).
Now, here is the challenge – ICE Skating…
Yes. Early on, after I finished my doctoral degree on skating by land, I embarked on my next career, and that is slaying the Ice Monster. hahaha. And I think, I was around 7 or 8 years old that time that I learned how to skate by ice. And goodness, I tell you, it is hard, and yes, I fell in a pool of melting Ice too, but, I learned again. Hahaha. I never reached the Doctoral Degree though, because I stopped my academics after I reached grade 1. Haha. It is just so hard for me, and I vow that my skating ability is meant for land basis only.
Then now, at the age of 24,I finally found myself thinking over if I can still do it again, for they say that once you learned something, it becomes and integral part of you which cannot be erased anymore. Provided that you are willing to do it again, so willpower eh?
Haha. Look at me, 29 August 2009 at the SM Megamall after several years of not stepping on the Ice Monster:
Thinking if I can do this again? Yes I can.
hahaha. that was just meant to confuse yah. How about this one? I really enjoyed it!
Haha. I did it! Even with my Grade 1 background
And here is the culprit of my desire to come back and start from Grade 2 with the Ice Monster:
Miel: Defender of the Ice Universe
It is a fun Saturday. I fell only once again. Hahaha, and I’ve got blisters on my feet, but that did not stop me from skidding, gliding and skating.
Another thing I notice though, adult skates are way heavier than what i remembered before. Lots of tons on my feet, but when I glided my way doing lapses (not that fast ha), I feel free. Free from everything, like frustrations, career episodes, personal dramas, political confusion and the likes.
My mind has gone from the moment I allowed my feet to glide, I found an innate silence. Peaceful and free.
I will try to learn how to level up my experience on this one. For I never know when shall I be star in my own right.
Ice Skating anyone?
